The Superintendencia de Seguridad Social (SUSESO) joined seven public institutions in a pilot program testing ethical algorithm tools developed by GobLab at Universidad Adolfo Ibanez.
SUSESO is piloting two data science projects:
1. Algorithmic Transparency Form — applicable to any data science or AI models
2. Bias Measurement and Statistical Equity Tool — designed for binary or multiclass predictive systems
Superintendenta Pamela Gana stated the goal: "to subject our data science initiatives to the highest ethical and transparency standards" while gaining expert guidance.
Program Context:
These free, open-source tools (available in Spanish) implement Chile's National AI Policy. The initiative, begun in 2020 with BID Lab, represents a unique global effort in practical responsible AI implementation.
Partners include: Ministry of Science, ChileCompra, Gobierno Digital, IPS, SUSESO, Civil Service, and Council for Transparency.
Participation: Public sector data science and AI projects in development, implementation, or production phases can apply at www.algoritmospublicos.cl.
